There have not been any longitudinal studies reported that chronic low back pain (CLBP) patients are at risk for stroke. Thus, in this study, we explored the association between CLBP and strokes. Patients and methods: Data (2000∼2010) from the Taiwan National Health Insurance database were analyzed. We matched 10,308 CLBP patients with 20,616 propensity score-matched non-low back pain (NLBP) patients according to age, gender, index year and comorbidities. Covariates of age, gender, comorbidities, and usage of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) were adjusted and analyzed.
General anesthetics-induced changes of electrical oscillations in the basal ganglia may render the identification of the stimulation targets difficult. The authors hypothesized that while sevoflurane anesthesia entrains coherent lower frequency oscillations, it does not affect the identification of the subthalamic nucleus and clinical outcome.
5. Sensing properties of Pt@SnO2 core-shell nanocomposite detecting epinephrine - 陸翔寧 - A 2020
This proposed Pt@SnO2 core-shell nanocomposite material based electrochemical sensor towards epinephrine detection showed high sensitivity, repeatability and high stability. It can play a significant role for precision determination of epinephrine in the drug sample and can also used for either simultaneous determination or others like acetaminophen (AC) and dopamine (DA) in samples.
A novel sensing material of cobalt oxide-bismuth phosphate (Co3O4–BiPO4) was prepared by the hydrothermal method. Thus prepared sensing material was characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The sensor was used for the determination of epinephrine by using modified Co3O4–BiPO4 on glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) methods showed a wide linear response to a concentration range, from 1.71 to 55.00 M, and the epinephrine detection limit for this sensing system was found to be 1.334 M. The Co3O4–BiPO4 electrode has very high selectivity towards the detection of epinephrine supported by an interference test. The epinephrine sensor seems very advantageous for future clinical health and medical sectors.
Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is usually associated with moderate-to-severe postoperative pain. Our study investigated the possible benefits of the use of nerve blocks (NBs), including pain score reduction, the rescuing dosage of morphine, the timing of ambulation, and the length of stay (LOS) in the hospital.
8. The 'spiked-helmet' sign in patients with myocardial injury - 黃有寧 - B 2020
The spiked-helmet sign is a marker for high mortality in critical patients. It is characterised as a dome-shaped ST-segment elevation accompanied by an upward shift of the baseline before the onset of the QRS complex. We present two patients with the spiked-helmet sign on electrocardiogram. Patient A showed a potential relationship between the spiked-helmet sign and hyper-osmolar hyper-glycaemic state, whereas patient B had clinically suspected viral myocarditis.
